Jes + Ivan’s Save the Dates

13 Feb

When Jes and her mom (Denise) told me that Jes was engaged I knew that this wedding was going to be unforgettable. Jes and Denise are the owners and designers of Imagination at Work Design Studio, a wedding design and decorating company located in Southern Minnesota, and their eye for amazing style never disappoints. So when they mentioned that I would be doing all the paper goods + stationery for the big day… I was beyond ecstatic!

With save the dates always being the first glimpse of your wedding, Jes knew she wanted to send out something that would tie in the ivory, pink + gray color scheme of her wedding – but also be just as fabulous as their engagement pics (you will see what I mean in a bit).

Working with Jes is super easy because she knows exactly what she wants, but lets me roll with the ideas and creativity. She wanted a patterned “fold-open” piece that would highlight their picture with simple text, and of course with lots of pink! I had a hard time finding any patterned stock that fit what she was after, so I actually printed the chevron pattern and inside text, then hand-folded the ivory shimmer stock using my boning tool. The only thing Jes had to do was paste in her beautiful photo! We then matched a pink shimmer envelope with a chevron patterned liner and gray handwritten font for the guest + return addresses.

My favorite part is the little heart map on the back of the folded piece that highlights where both Jes and Ivan are from : ) They actually met in Miami when Jes was attending school and Ivan was living there, they will be having many guests flying in from all over the country and world for their Minnesota wedding in July!

The amazing engagement photos were taken by Daniel Dinsmore Photography, and did I mention that Ivan was a model for ten years? Must be rough when the most difficult part of your wedding planning is deciding which photo to use on your save the dates because they all belong in a magazine…

New office view

9 Jan

This week/weekend I finally got around to an office project I have been craving for a while. One day my fingers were stopped dead in their tracks scrolling through Pinterest when I saw a pin that had a rig wired up with creative prints and cards above a little desk and I thought to myself “I NEED THAT”

I showed the pic to my husband and asked “could you do this?!” Sure, I just need… oh don’t worry I picked up the supplies from IKEA about a month ago haha so you can get started whenever you have a chance dearest :)

And he did on Sunday…

I chose invitations and prints that showed a variety of styles and colors I have done over the past year(s) that would stand out against my charcoal gray walls. I’m sure I will be switching some in and out moving forward depending on the season. Right above my computer I plan to always have the current month, and the next month calendar views so they are just a glance away along with a seasonal reminder like “Happy Valentine’s Day”

And then I got really artsy …

Happy New Year!

1 Jan

Happy New Year!!!! I am so excited for 2013, but I do have to say good luck to it because 2012 was a heckuva year! I started blogging with this post in 2012, and it had been an amazing ride ever since. I have lots of goodies in store for this year, along with some goals and resolutions that are both personal and business related. But one, really random goal I have for 2013 is to have more instagram followers. I know it’s odd, but I am just obsessed with this app and would love to connect with more of you out there. Here is my profile: gingerpdesigns

Holiday Card Round-Up

1 Jan

Do you get excited as I do when you grab your mail in December and see your friends or family’s return address printed on an envelope and you know it is a holiday card? Much of my December is devoted to holiday cards and I love seeing all the pictures, reading all the letters and of course the design and colors used :) I stick with the classic refrigerator for displaying our cards we receive. I know it isn’t anything special, but I love seeing all the smiling faces everyday when I fetch my diet mt. dews.

Christmas cards on the fridge

Every year I hate to take them all down, but I always keep and store them with their corresponding year marked on it, I have a feeling it will be a blast to look back on all of them someday.

GENO birth announcement holiday card

My nephew Geno is pretty handsome, so the only thing I needed to add to his combo birth announcement/holiday card was a few snowflakes. I think this one might contest to be the only holiday card that stays up until next Christmas!

Next to Geno’s, this was my favorite Christmas card we got. And it actually wasn’t addressed to Bjorn or I, it was delivered to our dog Turk!!! Her best (dog) friend Molly lives across the street and they run and play with each other almost every day so I thought it was the nicest/sweetest/cutest thing when our neighbors brought her this card, we are certainly going to hang it in her kennel for her!

The wedding and save the date Christmas cards are still as popular as ever that we offer at Ginger P Designs and the beautiful photos never seem to disappoint.

And last but not least, our 2012 Christmas card. It is always last on the list, but I just love coming up with our card design. This year I chose a picture from our summer trip to Europe, as it definitely was a highlight of our 2012. This particular pic was from the beautiful Cinque Terre, Italy. I went with a shimmer green paper backing for the actual card, an embossed wood grain pocket to keep the pic a surprise to mail-getters, and enclosed it all with a white wood grain embossed matching envelope. I hope all of your holiday seasons are Merry + Bright enough to wear sunglasses!

Holiday Hangout

1 Jan

I realize that this post is “last year’s” news, but considering I had trouble finding time to breathe in the month of December it had to wait until today! Last holiday season when I was up to my ears in holiday card orders and my real 8-5 job I promised myself I would have a “Ginger P” holiday party next year... I had ideas racing through my head of how to incorporate my paper goods, my friends and my christmas obsession – some were good, some were terrible.

Fast forward one year, and I threw out some dates to a few peeps about this “Ginger P” holiday party, I think they were confused as to what exactly it was, and to be honest I was too haha! I still didn’t have all the details down in my head, but we had a date, and I had confirmed guests. SO I started scratchin out ideas in my notebook. I finally came up with a concept that worked well with my paper goods, my friends and my christmas obsession – but I did add one more very key element: wine.

And this is how it all went down…

On a Friday night in early December I invited a handful of my friends and family to attend the first ever Ginger P Design’s “Holiday Hangout” which included 3 creative stations where the gals could decorate holiday cards, create a Christmas banner, and make holiday “pom-poms”. The holiday cards to decorate were just like my greeting cards, except I did a few basic holiday designs that they could jazz up with washi tape (click on link to buy your own) or glitter and then choose their own envelope liner from a variety of designs. The Christmas banner was the same design concept as my thanksgiving banner tutorial I did, but they got to choose their own ribbon color(s) for hanging and touches of glitter or washi tape for the blank panels. And last, was the “pom-pom” station where we used different colored yarn to make classic pom-pom balls that could be used to finish off their banners, hung as an ornament or on a present for a finishing touch. (my mom said she used to make them and put them on her roller-skates when she was younger – so there is another suggestion?)

In addition to the creative stations, appetizers were provided and each guest brought a bottle of wine for us all to share. Bottom line: christmas + friends + glitter + wine make for a VERY fun evening.
